About
This is a personal journal kept beside a workbench. It exists because notes written on paper get covered in oil and lost, and because the same mistakes repeat every few years unless somebody writes them down.
The bench handles domestic mechanical clocks: mantel movements, wall regulators, the occasional pocket watch brought by a friend. Nothing here is a service, an offer or a shop. Repairs are done for a small circle of people who already know where to find the door.
Entries appear when something goes wrong in an interesting way. A month may pass without a word, and that is the intended pace.
Corrections
Several entries have been rewritten after a reader pointed out that a Vienna regulator and a Vienna-style regulator are not the same object. The distinction matters to collectors and to almost nobody else, but the correction stands.
Reuse
Text here may be quoted freely with a link back. Photographs are not published, because the bench is untidy and the light is bad.
